Standley Lake Wick Silo Church Stage Stop Mandalay School (1925) In the late 1860's Benjamin Franklin Wadsworth settled on farmland at Ralston's Point. With fellow farmer Louis Reno, he decided to build a town where their two properties met. That property line ran right down the middle of the town. Originally called Centre Street, today it is known as Olde Wadsworth. Wadsworth and Reno's town needed a name in order to earn its own Post Office. Wadworth's wife's sister had married a man hamed Hiram Haskins. Hiram's middle name, and the name they gave the new town, came from an island off the coast of Syria meaning "Fruitiful and growing" - Arvada |
